OWH Mid Week Throw Down - Easter!!!

OWH Mid Week Thrown Down - Easter.  I have been a little absent from my creative endeavors.  Life gets in the way.  Been working more.  Basketball season for my son is in full swing.  Had to travel this past weekend to work on cleaning out my mother's house.  I am struggling to accomplish anything.  I wander around my house a lot.

Case in point - how hard can it be to make an Easter card?!?  I had some embellishments that I bought after Easter last year, and wanted to use them.  OK, but no Happy Easter stamp.  Found a "Blessings" stamp from Above Rubies Studio that worked.  Found an ink to match the embellishment - also from Above Rubies Studio.  This took 2 hours?  Really?!?

Here is my Easter card. I still want to make a light box - I think it would improve my pictures a LOT.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down - No Sentiment

This week's Mid Week Throw Down is to make a card with no sentiment.  WHAT?!?  I am not into coloring, so I rarely use images.  I really depend on designer paper cut in fun ways.  EEK!  What to do?  OK, deep breath.

I remembered that my sister in law gave me a beautiful sheet of K and Company butterfly and dragonfly stickers.  YES!!!

Random scraps of paper, silk moire ribbon, Cuttlebug embossing folder. I glued the body of the dragonfly to the card, and put small pop dots under both wings.  I may have to make a few more of these.

How about one that is a little more masculine?  Well, this one didn't turn out as nice as my first card.

Because of the mirror paper, I had to take the picture at a funny angle.  The card is OK, but not a favorite.  Maybe the silver piece is too high?  Wrenches the wrong color?  Maybe should have used black grommets?  All of the above?

OWH Sketch Challenge #154

This week, I am thrilled to have my sample card used for the sketch challenge!  Of course, I had to make more using the sketch!!!  I love this layout, as I can use a lot of my scraps.

The sketch:

My version using orange and pink scraps from the DCWV Baby Girl Stack and a sentiment from Clearly Defined:

How about some from The Paper Studio Stack and Slice shiny background paper?  Sentiments from Fiskars.

I love the layered ribbon effect.  As long as at least one layer is organza ribbon, it doesn't add a lot of bulk to the card.  I will have to do that more often!

OWH Our Daily Bread Dry Embossing Challenge

Our Daily Bread Designs offers a monthly challenge.  The prize?  A shipping donation for Operation Write Home!  Everyone wins!!!!  Their stamps are really crisp and clean.  I love the ones that coordinate with Spellbinders dies.

This month, their challenge is to use dry embossing.

Here is mine:

This card was super hard to photograph and capture the embossing, especially since I struggle with photos in general.

The light turquoise paper is iridescent. The ribbon matches the dark turquoise paper perfectly.

Sizzix embossing folder.  Clearly Defined stamp.  Martha Stewart ink.
